Play at Eton
1000 Faces Project Art Installation
February 5 - April 15
Over 1000 individual faces and 25 figures are featured in this artwork under the creative direction of Nelson Morris. These faces were cast from individuals visiting or living in Ohio and represent heritage to over 65 countries. Participants range in age from 4-85 years old. The faces are “life masks”, taken from participants as a plaster cast and then cast in cement.
Once completed, the artwork will feature the voices of participants and local area vocalists that will play when the faces are touched through captive touch technology. A permanent location is currently being sought in Northeastern Ohio where the work will become a venue for vocal artists, visual artists, and students to hone their observational skills. Nelsons’ vision for the artwork is for it to become a community revitalization feature in an urban setting.
This project will be on display and open for viewing through April 15 inside the mall at Eton Chagrin Bvld.
